Legal framework (pending review)

This policy is being structured to account for the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Final applicability and wording are subject to professional legal review before launch.

Information we collect

• Account information — name, email, and company details you provide when creating an account.
• Location and report inputs — the business types, addresses, and analysis areas you submit to generate reports.
• Optional report-personalisation information — answers you choose to give about your situation, customers, and priorities.
• Payment information — processed by our payment provider; Roocation does not store full card numbers.
• Usage and analytics data — how the product is used, to keep it working and improve it.

How information is used

To generate your reports, operate your account, process purchases, provide support, personalise report explanations where you have opted in, and improve Roocation. We may use de-identified, aggregated patterns to improve the product — never in a way that identifies you or your business.

What we do not do

Roocation does not sell personal information and does not share it with advertisers. Reports are built from public data about places and businesses — not personal data about area residents.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers — such as hosting and payment processing — to operate Roocation. They process information only as needed to provide their service to us, under confidentiality obligations. The confirmed list is published on our security page once production contracts are in place.

Data retention

Account data and reports are retained while your account is active. You can delete reports, personalisation answers, or your whole account; residual copies are removed from backups on a scheduled cycle.

Sharing reports

Reports you share are visible to whoever holds the link or permission you grant. Optional personalisation information is not displayed in a shared report unless you explicitly choose to include it.

Your rights and choices

You can access, update, export, or delete your information at any time from your account, and you can skip, edit, or remove personalisation answers whenever you like. For anything you cannot do in-product, use contact.

Data security

Account data is stored securely, access is limited to what is needed to operate the service, and payment details are handled by our payment provider under industry security standards. Our security page sets out what is designed in now and what is confirmed in production.

International processing

Roocation serves Australian locations; some service providers may process data in other regions under appropriate safeguards.

Children's privacy

Roocation is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Policy updates

We may update this policy; material changes will be announced before they take effect, with the date above updated.
